Our health inspiration articles have one more important ingredient. It is happiness. The concept of joy and sorrow. Both are inseparable and both exist together. After all the external precaution and hard work done, we must seek within ourselves the fountain of happiness or rather the balance. What goes around comes around! Let’s not forget that. This reminds me of a poem by famous Khalil Gibran and it is called Joy and Sorrow.

“Joy and Sorrow “

Then a woman said, “Speak to us of Joy and Sorrow.”

And he answered:

Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.

And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.

And how else can it be?

The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.

Is not the cup that hold your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter’s oven?

And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?

When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.

Some of you say, “Joy is greater than sorrow,” and others say, “Nay, sorrow is the greater.”

But I say unto you, they are inseparable.

Together they come, and when one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.

Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy.

Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced.

When the treasure-keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall.

Continuing our series of healthy motivation we will dwell further on other important aspects of a healthy lifestyle. It has always been recommended to Abstain from things which might harm us and things that are good must be used in moderation. Our body is a joint system of various organs and each of them is connected to each other. What affects one, tend to affect other as well. Exercise is strongly recommended for our physical structure but then like other good things it should be done in moderation. Too much of anything whether its exercise, food, sun or air is bad for us.

Balance is the key when it comes to living a healthy life. A proper exercise regimen must be supported by good diet. Eating is a good habit but overeating leads to obesity. Discipline is what we must focus on. We must exercise restrain in work outs, drink, food, sexual behavior amongst others.

It’s a known fact that drugs, alcohol, smoking, caffeine are bad for our health. How bad? Nicotine compresses the blood vessels running in our body and which in turn negatively affects the regulation of our heart. It also stimulates high blood pressure. Tars present in the tobacco damages our liver. That leads to other organs including brain getting affected severely in the long run. We can clearly see how failure of one organ after another led to the collapse of our entire body. Our body is like a happy family where each member must be treated with care and love. By putting some discipline and balance in our life we can live longer and happier.

In last two articles we talked about the importance of water and exercise. But then, there are several other important things which are equally important to our well-being. These other important things help us in keeping hale and hearty. One of those important things is the air we breathe.

In current scenario, having fresh air has almost become a mirage considering rapid urbanization and spread of concrete jungles. But then, didn’t someone say where there is a will, there is a way. So even amidst these concrete structures, people still have option of breathing fresh air as and when available. Few of you would be curious about benefits of fresh air! The answer lies in charged muscles and nerves and consequent increase in body energy.

Houses in rural areas are designed keeping in view adequate flow of air and sunlight. Proper house structures make sure; there is this uninterrupted flow of natural energy resources. Closed house designs make one breathe same stale air again and again and that results into reduced oxygen content followed by unhealthy symptoms like headache, sleepiness and laziness. We should also focus on breathing properly. We must breathe deeply. Apart from that, house windows should be open and there must be trees plated in the backyard. No garbage should be allowed to decay in house. We should also keep into mind getting adequate dosage of sunlight because that helps in glowing of skin and killing unwanted germs.  Lets strive to have healthy air and sunlight.

In previous article we read about the usage of water and its benefits. In our health inspiration series we continue with other important ingredient of a healthy lifestyle; Exercise and Nutrition. Human body is meant to work and when it remains inactive, it leads to boredom and that is a sure shot recipe for a poisonous internal body mechanism.

Yet, people take their body for granted and that’s the biggest insult to this great creation of God. Why do we need to have regular exercise sessions? Benefits are numerous (looking good is just one of the advantages!). Few of them are;

·        Muscle building and fat burning.

·        Improved blood circulation, leading to a healthy mind and body.

·        All round benefits in every part of the body including muscles and bones, lungs, joints, heart, brains, blood vessels, and other body parts.

·        Increased metabolism.

·        Helps in removing negative thoughts and other psychic factors like depression and frustration.

·        Increase in energy and enthusiasm.

·        Getting rid of the lactic acid and other fatigue poisons from the body.

·        Keeps stress and anxiety at bay, thus paves way for a more fulfilling life style.

·        Increased function of elimination in bowels and other organs

·        Enhanced HDL cholesterol level and reduction in LDL levels.

·        Strengthens body parts and in few cases has also proved crucial in dealing with stiff joints, arthritis, and limbs.

And finally, one starts feeling much better and looking much more beautiful. Enough reasons for us to start a healthy living by committing ourselves to a healthy exercise regimen.

One of the oldest proverbs says, ‘Health is wealth’! Our body is our temple and it needs to be cared, loved and respected because it signifies our existence. But not every human is health conscious. People take their body for granted. But one must start taking utmost care of ones’ body. Our body is 70-75% water and bloodstream is 55% liquid plasma, again mostly water. That gives us a fair idea about importance of water in our body mechanism.

The nutrients we generally eat in form of foods and supplements are heavily dependent on transportation facility of water so that all parts of our body get its required diet. No wonder, right from circulation, assimilation to digestion and elimination; all important processes need water. Doctors always recommend having adequate water drinking habit, non compliance of which might lead to problems like fatigue and other diseases. Instead of having beverages like coffee, juice, herbal supplements, tea or soda one should focus on drinking at least six to eight classes of water every day.

Less amount of water causes stagnation of poisonous waste tissues in our body. Absorption of foods is much better with proper usage of water on regular intervals. One should always drink water well before any meal or after one hour of the meal. It’s also recommended to have a certain amount of water every hour in the day. It helps in better absorption of food, glowing skin, and safety from various other diseases etc.

So let’s take a healthy inspiration for a healthy living!
