It could not be done!

How many times do you start getting this feeling that, I won’t be able to do this work any more? That, this work is not in my hands? That, this work is beyond my capabilities? Most likely answer would be, very often! Yes, we come across such situations in our life on a regular basis where things seem impossible to perform! But then, it’s a different fun performing things which we earlier thought to be impossible!
This poem emphasizes on that very point. And yes, remember to say, ‘it can always be done!’

Somebody said that it couldn’t be done,
But he with a chuckle replied
That maybe it couldn’t, but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so “till he tried.”
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried, he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it.

Somebody scoffed: “Oh, you’ll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it.”
But he took off his coat and took off his hat
And the first thing he knew he’d begun it.
With the lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle right in with a bit of a grin,
Then take off your coat and go to it;
Just start in to sing as you tackle the thing
That cannot be done, and you’ll do it.

The Wise Man and The Fool

Some times back, I came across this poem and it hit me hard. Somehow it made me stop in my path and realize that how exactly we define a wise person and a fool. It always depends upon our attitude. This word “attitude” determines so much. It not only affects us but our friends, family and colleagues as well. Just thinking deep about this poem will give us a complete new perspective.

The Wise Man and The Fool

by John McLeod

Said the wise man to the fool one day:

“I’ve got a hundred candles,

And lots of copper candlesticks with ornamental handles,

They cost me every cent I had

But I shall be all right,

And in the darkness of the eve I’ll have a splendid light.”

The fool said: “Yes, you may be wise,

But then again, p’raps not,

Only pence had I to buy, one candle’s all I got,

But then, I bought some matches too

And you, the silly goose,

Bought none, and so without a light

Your candles are no use!”

The moral of the story

Is simplicity’s defence

For even the buffooning clown

May have some common sense!

The wise man and the village fool,

But tell me which is which?

The one with only coppers?

Or the other very rich?

Think about it. Its worth spending few moments on the essence of this poem.

Simplicity

What is simplicity? A great attribute yet relatively undervalued quality. Hans Hofmann said, “The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak.” But in these days, simplicity is hard to find. In other words, simple is no more appealing. In fact the attitude towards simplicity is changed. We all know, our attitudes control our lives. Because Attitudes are a secret power working 24 hours a day, for good or bad. So it is of paramount importance that we know how to harness and control our attitude towards simplicity. Because simplicity is a great strength. It sits lightly on our shoulders. It is a quality which is as vital to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. Simplicity manages to overcome almost everything, even nature.

Simplicity…

Simplicity

Is removing the

Masks of Life that

Puzzle and

Limit our progress

In the journey towards

Contentment

Inner peace and the

Tranquility all

Yearn for.

Simplicity

Is

More,

Perhaps, than simply

Letters on a page.

It holds a message

Clear, no

Incongruity to confuse

The senses now or

Yesterday…..

Accomplishment & Obstacles!

We all come across millions of obstacles in our life and we are meant to overcome these obstacles. And the most crucial factor in overcoming those obstacles is our own inner strength. The inner strength to overcome along with the support of others, are intense motivators when attempting to prevail over the obstacles that lie ahead. The objectives we envisage, create, along with our strength of mind to succeed are considerable factors in conquering any challenge. As Dale Carnegie said, “Do the thing you fear to do and keep on doing it… that is the quickest and surest way ever yet discovered to conquer fear.” True words of wisdom! Once fear of obstacles conquered, success is there for taking. Success which could be anything ranging from, money, career, fame, happiness amongst other things.

To laugh often and much;

To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;

To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;

To appreciate beauty,

To find the best in others,

To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child,

A garden patch or a redeemed social condition;

To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.

This is to have succeeded

The Right Attitude

How often we have realized the significance of having a positive attitude about life? Yes, the particular word, “Attitude” makes all the difference. In order to achieve success, we have to pursue our goals with unstoppable determination and positive attitude. As long as we know exactly what we want and possess an incessant desire to acquire it, we will prevail.

So rightly it has been said that, “Our attitudes control our lives. Attitudes are a secret power working 24 hours a day, for good or bad. It is of paramount importance that we know how to harness and control this great force.”

Having complete control over our own mind will allow us to manage any situation at hand. If we can maintain a positive approach, we can achieve anything

Let’s share one of the best poem ever published.

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

- Robert Frost
